This was my last vlog of the year, I talked about how I feel about where Im at in my film carer. I definitely think this year was very successful until the coronavirus hit but I produced pretty well films during this tough time. I also talked about my two favorite films I did this year which were the J&D Cakes documentary and The Magical Jacket. I will be taking IB film for the two years so I talked a little about that. In the beginning of the vlog I wanted to make it interesting and entertaining by having me walk into my house. Then saying hi to my dog because everyone loves dogs and that will grab the viewers attention to watch the rest of the vlog. In conclusion, this year definitely was fun with my classmates and having Mr. D as my teacher again. I can't wait to see how I will develop my film career even more in the next two years with the help from Mr. D and my peers.

Arrival Blogpost

The Arrival is a Sci-Fi film that came out in theaters back in 2016. It was a really good connecting movie that showed many emotions and was kind of a twist too. I felt this was a really well produced Sci-Fi film because of how Amy Adams connected and communicated with the aliens in their own ship. The directer did do a very well job on making this an emotional Sci-Fi film to watch, it was really enjoyable.
I thought the structure of the story and plot was shown pretty well. At first it is confusing to understand how the time works but in the beginning of the film, Amy Adams has flashbacks of her daughter and that she will pass away soon to a disease. But At the end of the film, The aliens actually put the future in her mind and the daughter is who she will have in the future because she does not currently. This was a huge twist that shocked me and made me wonder why the directer did that. The directer, script writers made it interesting of how the aliens communicated which they did by shooting out there ink and forming shapes with them. The reality in this was that the military were after the aliens and just wanted to know why they were here on earth. Jeremy Renner played his role well on helping Amy Adams learn the aliens language and what they were doing.
The cinematography was really well and I was defiantly blown away on techniques used. Some shots that I remember was the one when it was a tilt in a opening scene to the giant land with the mountains in the background where the alien spaceship landed. I really also liked how they used an extreme close up and just regular close ups to show the emotion of what the mood is. In the shot where Amy was holding her daughter, it made the mood sad and connected to her feelings. Also I love point of view shots because you get the perspective that character and the cinematographer did really well when the camera was facing Amy's daughter during her point of view when she was running around in the backyard.
I would 100% recommend this film to anyone especially people that are really into the film shot techniques. Even if your not into Sci-Fi movies, this film will connect to you and keep you waiting off your seat to see what was going to happen next. I also recommend watching this movie possibly twice because first, you want to learn and understand the story on what is going on. Then watch it again to see what shot types they used and how those moments affected your emotions.

Poetic Film: What Beauty Is To Me
In my recent poetic film, I show and explain what beauty means to me with different clips that make me happy. First, I said playing basketball because It is my favorite sport and I enjoy it the most out of all sports. Second, I said sitting by my water fountain in front of my house because I usually sit there and read a book or just to relax so I can release my stress. Also, I said working out such as running around my neighborhood because that is another way I release stress and where I can focus on my self with really no distractions. I took many different shots including a point of view, close ups, and medium shots. My clips were pretty short due to because in my voiceover I'm already talking about the next topic. I would definitely do another poetic film about another topic because this was a great film to show what Im passionate and love to do. Here is my poem:

60 Second Film Challenge: Not A Millionaire
Trying this new 60 second film challenge was really fun and exciting to film, edit, produce, etc. It took me about a day to figure out what the story was going to be about with some help and ideas from Mr. D. He gave me an idea about a missing phone and missing a call. So I decided to make the story about me winning a million dollars on a game show that I was recently on, they have to call me and I have to answer in order for the confirmation of the money. But I cant find my phone and when I do it stops ringing. I call the game show back and they said since I did not pick up or answer the phone when they called, the second place winner got the money. I took the most shots in this film but I did get the help from my mom to the film the shots in some parts. I wanted to do some new cool shots such as when I opened up the dish washer, the camera was put there already so it would look like I was looking around for my phone. I tried my best to make the film 60 seconds but I believe it is 1 minute and 15 seconds. I did not use a few clips I had because the film would have been much longer. But I am very happy with the outcome of this film and definitely would try to do some fun challenge like this in the future.

Horror Edit
Editing this film took me about a few days to do because of all film I had to watch and find the right shots to use. I had to follow a directors script and it was a little difficult because of how much footage I had but I got it done! The film started where this girl was in warehouse running from a man in a yellow suit with an axe. She was running until he caught her and killed her with it but she woke up from that dream. Then she went into the kitchen where she told her friend about the dream. Some shots I used in this film were long long shots and medium shots. I enjoyed doing these types of film where Im getting footage that i have to edit. it was a lot of hard work but it was worth it.

Joel Basco Doumentary
In this documentary, I decided to interview Joel Basco, the owner and cake baker at J&D Cakes, located in Boca Raton, Florida. In my script I asked around 9 questions about his cake baking background, his exciting moments, how he started his business, etc. I do not have a story board because I did not know what his bake shop would look like going in for the first time to film. It took me around a week to decide what to do a documentary on and Joe was the perfect person because he makes the cakes for most of my family occasions like our birthdays. For my 17th birthday which had just occurred recently, he had made me a yeezy cake. Joel added an immense amount of detail throughout the entire cake, to make the shoe look realistic. In 2015, Joel had won Cake Wars during its third season. A large majority of my camera shots were a lot of moving side to side because I wanted to get as much detail as I could of the cakes that Joel had displayed for me. I interviewed him with a good medium shot too. Also I definitely think this documentary will engaged the viewers because its about cake and everyone loves cakes. The only thing I would have liked to have added to this film would have been him actually making a cake. Joel was not working on a cake at the moment when i went to his bake shop to film. I did have fun editing and really getting to hear his story, some of his background, etc. I 100 percent would do another documentary on Joel in the future or just another one in general.
Script: questions -
- What is your name and where are you from?
- What do you do?
- How did you get into the cake baking business?
- How long have you been making and designing cakes?
- What was it like when you won Cake Wars?
- How did you learn how to decorate and design cakes so well?
- How many times have you been on TV?
- What is your favorite cake that you have baked and designed?
- Where do you get your ideas and inspiration to make a fantastic cake?

Upside Film Review

The movie "The Upside", is based off of a billionaire, Philip who lives in a New York penthouse and needs a caretaker. Philip is handicap and can only move his face. Dell who is becoming homeless needs work to take care of his ex and his son. Philip's assistant, Yvon did not want to hire Dell because he is very not qualified for this position. But Philip hires him because he needs help and so does he.
This movie is a drama and a comedy. One reason it is a drama because Dell stole a book from Philip when he first arrived not knowing it was an autographed special book. He gave the book to his son as a birthday gift. After Dell found out all about the book and meaning behind it, he asked his son for it back and told the truth to him. The son then went to Philip and returned the book. Another reason why its a comedy is because Kevin Hart plays Dell. Kevin used to be a comedian before acting so it this movie was going to be funny no matter what. One of the funniest parts of the movie was when he returned to Philip after being fired, and the way he acted when seeing his beard was hilarious. Dell was saying all these funny jokes and the directer did a great job picking him to play this part in the movie.
The directer, Neil Burger did a great job telling this story through directing and camera movements. He did some of medium shots, close ups, etc. Here are some pictures of some camera angles that he filmed it in. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone above the age of 13. It for sure is a classic.
